Saint Petka - The Cross in the Desert is a Serbian-Jordanian biographical and dramatic film from 2022, directed by Hadži-Aleksandar Đurović, based on Petkan's novel by Ljiljana Habjanović Đurović
The pious girl Paraskeva leaves her life among the people in the city of Constantinople and, after a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, goes to the Jordanian desert, where she spends the next 40 years of her life battling temptations, sins, and inner demons. Her journey from an ordinary girl to the most beloved and respected saint in Orthodoxy is followed.
It premiered on the 29th of August, 2022, at the 44th Moscow Film Festival and the 6th in Serbia. September at the House of Unions, while on the 8th it was released in theaters in September.
