The film "Barking at the Stars" is set in a small provincial town in the year 1963. The story is about the last two weeks of the school year. These are the days when graduates can do anything, even bark at the stars. At the center of the story are two brothers who are vying for the affection of one girl in the heated atmosphere of a classroom before taking their matriculation exams...
The heroes of this humorous story are the students and teachers of a provincial high school and the IV-2 class. Their adventures are recognizable and relatable to anyone who has an idea of high school life, yet they are also very personal. The main character, Mihailo Knežević, rises above the other students, and often the professors, in spirit, intelligence, and knowledge. School knowledge isn't a problem for him; his problem is the girl from his class, Danica, whom he's persistently trying to win over. His main rival is his brother, an older guy who already knows how to make money.
There's also his best friend, a student who boasts about his strength and whom the gym teacher fanatically trains to be a boxing champion until he returns from a match in the capital bruised and with his tail between his legs. One of the students is inevitably the "golden child" for the professors and a brown-noser for his classmates. Most of them try to compensate for their limited knowledge with a series of tricks and clever ideas.
