Guardians of the Formula is a Serbian biographical drama film from 2023, directed by Dragan Bjelogrlić, with a screenplay by Vuk Ršumović. It was based on the novel "The Vinča Case" by Professor Goran Milašinović, who was also a screenplay consultant.
In the midst of the Cold War crisis in October 1958. In 1988, a group of scientists at the Vinča Institute conducted a secret project led by Professor Dragoslav Popović. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they are exposed to a lethal dose of radiation, which leads the Yugoslav secret police to take them to the Curie Clinic in Paris for treatment.
A French medical team led by Professor Georges Mathé concludes that their condition is critical and their days are numbered. Although Professor Mate dedicated his entire life to fighting nuclear weapons and deeply despises the project on which Yugoslav scientists were working, he proposes that for the first time in history, a delicate and uncertain bone marrow transplant be performed on irradiated patients
