The series is set in the 1930s. The story takes place in a Banat village, and the main characters are a father and his sons, who are going through turbulent relationships.
Lajko is finding it difficult to get used to the role fate has assigned him: to be one of the Jagodićs, the illegitimate son of Count Milan, and the half-brother of Jovan and Branko. But it's not easy for Branko and Jovana either. Branko realizes that his time in France hasn't changed him and that he's remained the same as he was when he left the castle four years ago. An average and insecure painter, he is still attractive to women and irresistible as a seducer and womanizer, but he is several years older and also more tired than anything else.
John, once a businessman, became indifferent to the world around him, haunted by memories of lost love, and never left his dark room in the castle. And Count Milan is recovering from a stroke in Slankamen. Soon, a series of unexplained murders begins, which awakens the dormant ghosts of the past, once again putting the Jagodić family's survival to the test.
