King Peter I is a 2018 Serbian war film. The film is directed by Petar Ristovski and is based on Milovan Vitezović's novel "King Peter's Socks," published in 1994. Based on a screenplay by Milovan Vitezović, Vladimir Simić, and Vladimir Ćosić.
Based on the true story of Serbian King Peter I Karadjordjević, set during World War I. Although victorious in the first two battles, the Serbian army, decimated and starving, must retreat across the icy Albanian mountains. King Peter feels that all is lost until he finds solace in the vow he makes to the mother of a soldier: he will find her son among the lost soldiers and give him the pair of socks his mother made for him...
Beside the film, a ten-episode series was also filmed and aired in 2019 on RTS.
