Mother-of-Pearl Fog is a Serbian drama film from the year 2025. The film is directed by Milorad Milinković, and the screenplay is co-written with Dragoljub Stojković, who wrote the novel on which the film is based.
1882: The Jelena Ilka Marković attempted to assassinate King Milan Obrenović in the Cathedral Church. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison and was found dead in her cell shortly after - the official version is that she hanged herself with a towel from her bed. Traces indicate that suicide was not possible.
Seven years later, on the same day, two bodies were found - on the banks of the Sava, fishermen found the body of the murdered girl, and in Topčider Forest, the body of Prince Miloš's great-grandson. It is discovered that these two murders are connected to the assassination at the cathedral. After a long time, the case was reopened. A failed lawyer and the head of the Belgrade police are investigating her death, each for their own reasons, but in the case of Mrs. Marković, the truth brings nothing good.
