The Skin is a story about a musician, a former drug addict, and a drug dealer named Slobodan Milošević, who, after serving several years in prison for smuggling twenty kilograms of cocaine into the Netherlands, is released from prison in The Hague.
On his return journey via Belgrade to his hometown of Banja Luka, Slobodan is haunted by memories of his past life: his time studying at the music academy in The Hague, the war in the former Yugoslavia in which his parents were killed, and his life in Belgrade in the 1990s, marked by characters from the criminal and drug-addicted milieu.
Upon arriving in his hometown, Slobodan tries to find his place in a society and system that have long changed and where new rules, unknown to him, prevail. At the same time, he also confronts characters and events from the past that will change him again and present him with a dilemma: whether to embark on the path of revenge and seek his own justice toward purification and further life, or on the path of forgiveness and healing of the soul?
