The Scent of Rain in the Balkans is a television series based on the novel of the same name by Gordana Kuić. It consists of 14 episodes and was directed by Ljubiša Samardžić.
The story follows the fate of a Sephardic Jewish family from Sarajevo during the turbulent times from 1914 until 1945, from the beginning of World War I to the end of World War II.
Her memories are recounted by the elderly Blanka Korać (Renata Ulmanski), the second youngest daughter of Leon and Esther Salom. The series spans the period from the beginning of World War I to the end of World War II and depicts relationships in wartime Sarajevo, the sacrifice of the oldest Buka, the dreams of young Riki, and the religious conflict of Nina's daughters, Klara and Blanka, who fall in love with Christians.
